In the rich oeuvre of visual artist Pieter Bijwaard (1955), it is evident that he continually explores new paths. However, his signature style is always recognizable. Bijwaard's drawings exude a quiet strength, which seems to stem from the dedication and skill with which he creates them. These drawings emit an intimate atmosphere and are layered in their meaning. Since the mid-seventies, Pieter Bijwaard has been working, with few exceptions, on a single paper size: 32.5 x 25 cm. This format creates a formal unity in his oeuvre. He attended the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. His work is represented in both museum and private collections, including the Teylers Museum in Haarlem, the Kunstmuseum Den Haag, the De Pont Museum in Tilburg, and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
